Diffluence Collection
The Diffluence Collection is Liselore's latest work. It was created by the invitation to participate in the Exhibition during the Haarlem Art Line in Paviljoen Welgelegen of the North Holland Provincial House with 6 other Haarlem Artists with the theme "MA 間 Embrace the Space". For this, Liselore explored what the concept of MA 間 means to her within her work. What happens to the space within the form when it appears to be touched by the wind? Within the creation of atmospheric fronts, diffusion is the extension of a fluid body perpendicular to the flow. In the translation to her work, the still plastic clay deforms due to the flow, giving it a new shape. By turning out the forms as thinly as possible, they acquire a thinness that is extra susceptible to this movement. The space that is then created, but also the space between the different objects is where MA 間 manifests itself. Emptiness that becomes tangible through matter. Form and Counter Form.
Liselore chooses black and gray stoneware clay for this collection because it maximizes the shadowing and shape. In her earlier work, Liselore chooses to smooth the skin of the clay with a lomer. In this work, however, the movement is accentuated by leaving the turn lines, formed by her fingertips, intact.
The work is only partially glazed because the color of the clay and its matte effect has its own charm. The glazes pick up the pigments in the clay, giving the glazes extra life and creating a natural connection with the shard. The glazes were developed by Liselore and also tell their own story. They are made with Japanese rice ash and with products Liselore gets from her surroundings such as Limburg marl (from the estate of a friend of her parents), and iron oxide extracted from found iron. The glazes change with her, just as life does, indirectly telling her story.
The clay is cookie fired at 1000℃ and then glazed at 1260℃. This maximizes the clay color and makes the very thinly turned form less fragile. Each piece is unique and is numbered.
